27 x 56,5 cm; Shirley 31; in the centre print slightly faint; left margin cropped by c 1,5 cm thus affecting the names of the climates; otherwise in fine cond. - This wood engraved map is one of the first examples of a two-colour printed map. By passing the map through the press for a second time, the place names were printed in red. - The map was consists of two sheets with the left hand part of the British Isles map printed on the reverse of the right hand sheet. - This is the 1511 edition of Ptolemy's 'Geographia' edited by Sylvanus with amendments to show the latest discoveries.
